PUSD Update to Families - 3/24/2020

March 24, 2020

PUSD Families,

I hope everyone is doing well this evening.  At the onset, I want to encourage everyone to make sure that you’re finding time to make connections with friends, family, and colleagues … especially around topics that aren’t COVID-19 related.  Try a virtual board game, play zoom pictionary, join each other virtually for dinner, or whatever it is you do to really connect, laugh, and play. It’s vital that we do what we can to build and nurture all of our relationships during this challenging time.

I don’t have much to report this evening with regard to big announcements.  I just want to keep encouraging all of you, and express how much I miss our school sites, seeing our educators everyday, and hearing the voices of children outside of my office.

Thank you again and please don’t hesitate to reach-out if you have any needs.

Sincerely,

Randall Booker, Superintendent

L.A. Unified Schools Closed Until At Least May Amid Uptick In Covid-19 Cases

According to an article in the LA TImes, as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths in California continues to rise, federal, state and local officials continue taking steps to tighten unprecedented restrictions on people’s movements in an effort to slow the spread of the virus. Los Angeles Unified School District Supt. Austin Beutner announced Monday that schools, which closed along with others across California last week to help quell the outbreak, will remain shuttered through May 1.
