Making a donation to support Piedmont schools is now easier than ever: The Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) has launched a new, user-friendly website — www.PiedmontEdFoundation.org — that features a clean, fresh look and a wealth of information about PEF, its initiatives, and why parents and community members should support our local schools. Donors can make contributions quickly and securely on the site. This effort is part of the organizational transformation that began last spring with PEF’s merger with the former Associated Parents Club of Piedmont.
“PEF has so much good news to share. Whether it’s thanking our generous donors or showing how their contributions make a difference in the classroom, we want to showcase these things in a way that’s fun and engaging,” says PEF Chair Christine Wente von Metzsch.
With a goal to raise $2 million to support teachers and educational initiatives throughout the District, this year’s Co-Chairs of the Giving Campaign (PEF’s largest fundraiser), Shanti Brien and Hilary Cooper are thrilled with the new site: “Donors are going to love this — giving will be user-friendly, and straightforward. Information about how contributions support the schools is readily available — something that’s new this year, thanks to our newly merged board,” says Brien.
The kick-off of this year’s Giving Campaign is just around the corner, and the timing of a new website couldn’t be more perfect, says Cooper. “We will be posting updates about our launch party — Friday, September 18 — and now can make full use of Facebook and Twitter — both fully integrated into the new site. If our party’s going to be ‘the place to be’ on September 18, www.PiedmontEdFoundation needs to be the digital version of that. I hope everyone checks them BOTH out!”
Designed by Mighty Minnow, an Oakland web builder with a clientele of smaller nonprofits, the project was managed by tech-savvy Piedmont parent Linda Horne. Volunteering much of her summer to corral information and manage input from PEF board members and staff, “Linda was the main reason we were efficient and effective — with an spectacular finished product” says PEF board member Mary Ireland.
“The website shows how having a single organization for fundraising will streamline both donations and the grant process. We have come a long way in simplifying what used to be a complicated process. Everyone’s lives will be much easier” says longtime staffer Julia Burke.
Though the look and feel is different these days, PEF’s longtime mission is unchanged: To raise money in order to fund core programs that help make Piedmont schools excellent. The PEF Board of Directors, composed of 30 parents and community members, is committed to engaging the Piedmont community in support of the Piedmont schools.
